Annually, Southern Ohio Educational Service Center (SOESC) acknowledges outstanding achievements of school-age children and youth with disabilities throughout Region 14. Hunter Rapp, 2020 Senior at North Adams High School, has been selected as the Outstanding Student Award Recipient for Adams County. He was nominated in the area of athletics.
Hunter’s nominator describes him as “an amazingly talented young man with a passion for sports.” Hunter has been on both the basketball and baseball teams during his entire high school career. Additionally, Hunter became a local celebrity when he was recognized by media outlets for his points scored in a basketball game during Senior Night, with the North Adams Green Devils. The nominator further states that “Hunter is a part of the team completely. He is in the huddle when plays are being discussed. He is rooting on his fellow teammates from the bench. He is shooting his shots when he gets the ball. This is just the way it is at North Adams Jr./Sr. High School. Hunter is 100% included, which allows him to express his exuberant personality.” As many know, Hunter has been dedicated to the sports at North Adams High School and the NAHS sports program is exemplary due to the inclusive environment. Hunter has also participated with the Venture Hawks, an adult basketball league with Adams County Developmental Disabilities and will likely play with the team in the future.
Hunter plans to attend the University of Cincinnati Transition and Access Program (TAP) and study in the field of education. Hunter’s goals are to return to North Adams High School and assist Coach Copas with basketball and Coach Meade with baseball.
Congratulations Hunter for being the 2020 Adams County Outstanding Student Award Recipient! Best wishes for your future!
