Southern Ohio Educational Service Center (SOESC) recognizes Exceptional Achievement Award recipients for services they have provided during the 2019/2020 school year to ensure students with disabilities achieve personal, social, or academic goals of the highest standards. Only a limited number of individuals or groups from throughout the five-counties served by Region 14 are recognized with this honor. Gracie Mitchell, 5th grade student at Peebles Elementary, has been selected to receive a 2020 Exceptional Achievement Award.
As described by the nominator, “Gracie is mature beyond years” and serves peers that have learning challenges “with sincere kindness and humility.” Gracie assists students with disabilities in technology class every day. She assists her peers in logging onto the computer as well as having the computer ready with the assignment for the day. Gracie’s nominator further states, “During class, she gently guides her peer and encourages him to stay on task. If he experiences problems, she glides up to my desk, whispers the problem and returns to her own work.” Gracie considers helping her peers as part of her own daily work.
Congratulations Gracie on your Exceptional Achievement Award! Thank you for your service to your peers and classmates.
