The OVCTC FFA General Livestock Judging Team competed at the Keystone International Livestock Exposition (KILE) National Contest last week. Team members were Hayden Crum, Ethan Beekman, Zander White, Wyatt Manning, and Ryan Shoemaker. They earned this national judging experience from competing in the Ohio FFA finals this past spring. The quality of livestock was exceptional and the team was able to network with some wonderful people in Pennsylvania. The team placed 15th overall and 13th overall in both swine and beef. These students represented the CTC well! Special thanks to MacCauley Suffolks, John Rock Inc., New Holland Hay Tool, and the KILE livestock show for a great event.

We had a very exciting morning! The Early Childhood Education program from the CTC launched their new program “Junior Educators”. This program is managed by seniors in the Early Childhood Education program and they work with 6th grade students to choose activities to implement with some of our kindergarten students. This program is providing ECE students the ability to strengthen leadership skills, 6th grade students the opportunity to learn about strategies used in teaching and kindergarteners an opportunity for some fun small group activities. Today 6th grade junior educators Lilly Wooten and Aubree Hoop led by ECE senior Kendall Barlow read the story “We all Fall for Apples” to kindergarten students. They also had students sing along with a fun apple song, discussed favorite apples and shared an example of a craft they will be making later this week. We are very excited to see how this program will grow.
