Uniform update! We have been working on getting a year round store for program uniforms. We will have more information mid-July when we get the link for the store.
The Ohio Valley CTC had the opportunity to travel to SkillsUSA Nationals in Atlanta, Georgia.
Mason Hanes competed in Technical Computer Application. Cauner Boatman, Carly Hayslip, and Chloe Johnson competed in The Occupational Health and Safety - Single entry Notebook. The chapter also had 2 delegates, Emily Evans and Lizzy Gerth, that were involved in electing the new SkillsUSA National Officers.
This week, the OVCTC SkillsUSA students are competing in a national competition in Atlanta, Georgia. Best of luck to our students competing and serving as Ohio Delegates at this national conference!
The Ohio Valley CTC Culinary Arts Program will receive a $5,000 grant from the Rachael Ray Foundation to build up their National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation ProStart culinary arts and restaurant management programs. The grants from the Rachael Ray Foundation ProStart Grow Grant Program will help educators build the tools to teach their students career-building skills using the ProStart curriculum. Schools can use their Grow Grant funds to make classroom upgrades or purchase new equipment and resources. Congratulations to Mrs. Foster and the Culinary Arts program for securing / winning this grant for the 2023-2024 school year.
This week, some of our Ag Mechanics students were able to attend an event held by Ohio Cat. Thanks to Jason Berens, a Cat Employee specialist, and Craig Wellert a Cat Technical training supervisor, for a great day of information. We hope to expand this relationship to our students in our shop soon! Thank to Ohio Cat for supporting our OVCTC students!
During our Senior Completion Ceremony, it came to our attention that there was three generations of OVCTC students in attendance. Karen and Allan Cluxton of Peebles were in the first and second classes at was then the Ohio Valley Vocational School. Their son, Andy along with his wife Nancy were also students. In 2022, their son , Drew completed our precision machining program and this year, their daughter, Annymae completed our Agribusiness Production Systems program.
The OVCTC Cosmetology students did a volunteer project for "Community Day" at Monarch Meadows at the end of May! The students loved doing hair and nails for the residents there and had a great time!

It is graduation weekend for the Adams County Ohio Valley Schools. All graduation ceremonies will be live-streamed on the district YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@acovsd/live Starting today, NAHS at 4 pm, WUHS at 7 pm, and PHS on Sunday at 2 pm.
The OVCTC Ag Mechanics program is having a changing of the guard! We say congratulations to our graduating Seniors while the "new Seniors" have picked up the slack with some community service before summer. The chain link fence removal in shade tree park was an important project at the fairgrounds! A new door was fabricated for the Crows Nest (special thanks to OVCTC Welding). Some time was spent on maintenance and rehab of the bleachers! We hope all our students have a great summer.
We are very proud of our Early Childhood Education "Field Day" crew - Mrs. Hoop and the ECE students put in a lot of work to support the activities and fun events for the West Union Elementary School students this week! Thank you for your dedication and hard work!
Juniors in the Culinary Arts Program were engaged in community service this week as they served meals and assisted Senior Citizens at The Willows!
The OVCTC Culinary Arts program took a field trip to Jungle Jim's in Cincinnati last week. This was a great opportunity to learn about international cuisine, participate in tastings of global foods and ingredients, etc...

Incredible Day at the OVCTC on Friday! The students in AG Mechanics and Welding were visited by industry professionals from the area. Students enjoyed a full day of hands on Tig welding experience. Thanks to Charlie Schaff from Delille, Ben Whitt from Local 577, Phil Copas with US Tank. Creg Davis and Roy Liston from the Adams County Engineer's Dept and Jeremy and Landon Conn with Pro Mechanical services. We are grateful that local professionals are willing to invest in our students.
