The Adams County Ohio Valley School District will be closed tomorrow, Thursday January 28th, 2021 due to poor road conditions.
The ASE Entry level Maintenance and Light Repair test was taken on Tuesday! This will earn these automotive technology students nationally recognized industry credentials. Their instructor, Mr. Joe Palmer, is very proud of their hard work and focused study to pass these exams!

The Ohio Valley CTC Culinary Arts program would like to thank Mr. Bob Glick of the Affinity Group for serving as today’s guest speaker during their lab. Mr. Glick is a graduate of The Ohio State University and the Culinary Institute of America. The Affinity Group is a food service and retail supermarket sales and marketing agency. Mr. Glick explained how he works with restaurants and supermarkets to bring in products that will make their businesses more successful.
Garde manger and knife skills are constantly practiced and developed by students in the OVCTC Culinary Arts program. Lathan Jones, a senior culinary student and Garde manger competitor, shares his knowledge and garde manger techniques with the junior culinary students. Lathan works full time and is on early placement. His passion for being a chef leads him to share his talents with his peers whenever possible.
Congratulations to OVCTC FFA top fruit sellers! First place is Ryan Shoemaker selling nearly $3000 in total, 2nd goes to Hunter Harris at approximately $1900 in sales, and third goes to Hunter Johnson at $1800 in sales! Congratulations to these three FFA Members on a job well done to help our chapter!
The students in the OVCTC Culinary Arts program have been practicing knife cuts and their overall sou chef skills!
The OVCTC Ag Mechanics program has jumped in the welding booth after returning from the winter break. The students continue to add new skills and sharpen previous skills with practice. It is great to have our students in the labs and classroom!
Early Childhood Education junior, Ronnie Slack, continues to wear his mask and use social distancing to safely work with 1st grade students from Mrs. Regenstein’s 1st grade classroom. Here he is shown working on weekly sight words to help students recognize these words that are frequently used in writing and reading. This is the last week he will be working with these students before moving to a new placement next week. As always thank your the cooperating teachers at WUES who allow our students these wonderful experiences.

Seniors from our Early Childhood Education program met virtually last week with education director Becky Storer from Southern State Community College to discuss options for continuing their education after high school. Becky answered question about admissions, scholarships and registration. We appreciate her time to meet with those students during her busy schedule.
The students in the OVCTC Construction Technology program have been hard at work completing the siding for a shed they are constructing in lab.
Last week, students in the OVCTC Automotive Technology program were taught by Mr. Palmer how to execute a thorough pre-alignment inspection.
Covid 19 presents a few challenges for our schools but juniors in our Early Childhood Education program at the OVCTC are taking the opportunity to learn about alternative teaching styles that provide students with a safe environment while still providing them the instruction and guidance they need to grow. Last week juniors returned to West Union elementary to work in their assigned classrooms. As seen in the photos all ECE students are wearing masks and often use clear dividers to provide an extra layer of protection between them and the students they are working with. Our ECE students enjoy the time they spend in the classroom and were excited to return and see all of the students they work with daily.
Thank you to our Health Careers Technology Instructor, Mrs. Grooms, for providing the CPR class for our Ag. Business & Ag. Mechanics students so that they could earn this important industry credential!
Mrs. Foster’s Career Readiness developed an important life skill this week as they learned to see on a button.
The OVCTC is very proud of Michael Satterfield, a Class of 2020 graduate who studied in the IST program. Michael has recently graduated from US Army Infantry School in Fort Benning, Georgia! We can’t truly express how grateful we are that you are serving our country!!!
