Congratulations to the OVCTC FFA General Livestock Judging Team for their 1st place team finish at the Brown County Fair last week! Ethan Beekman was the 1st place individual, Hayden Crum was the 2nd place individual, and Wyatt Manning was the 4th place individual overall!
Students in the OVCTC Ag Business, Ag Mechanics, Automotive Technology, CNC Machining, Construction Technology and Welding programs heard a presentation on tool safety / tool operation from the safety trainer at DeWalt Tools this week.
We had a very exciting morning! The Early Childhood Education program from the CTC launched their new program “Junior Educators”. This program is managed by seniors in the Early Childhood Education program and they work with 6th grade students to choose activities to implement with some of our kindergarten students. This program is providing ECE students the ability to strengthen leadership skills, 6th grade students the opportunity to learn about strategies used in teaching and kindergarteners an opportunity for some fun small group activities. Today 6th grade junior educators Lilly Wooten and Aubree Hoop led by ECE senior Kendall Barlow read the story “We all Fall for Apples” to kindergarten students. They also had students sing along with a fun apple song, discussed favorite apples and shared an example of a craft they will be making later this week. We are very excited to see how this program will grow.
Last week, the OVCTC Ag Business and Ag Mechanics students had the opportunity to attend the Farm Science Review. This is an amazing educational experience where students learn about emerging trends, new advancements & cutting-edge technology in agriculture!
Congratulations to the OVCTC FFA Soils Judging Team for their 4th place finish at last week’s District competition. This success qualifies the team for the state contest!
The OVCTC was proud to host Governor DeWine for his short visit to Adams County! Though there wasn’t time to tour all programs, the Governor was able to see demonstrations of the various uses of technology in the Ag. Business, Welding, Ag. Mechanics, CNC Machining & Construction Technology programs when he was on campus today!
Congratulations to the OVCTC FFA Forestry Team for their 2nd Place finish in the state and 1st place finish at the recent district competition! Hayden Crum was the 1st place individual in the State of Ohio. Ethan Beekman placed 8th in the state competition. At the district competition, the individual results were:

Caden Luck - 4th
With the team’s 2nd place finish in state competition, they have qualified to compete at “The Big E” judging competition in Springfield, Massachusetts.
The OVCTC Health Careers & Technology students have been practicing putting on and taking off Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Students in the OVCTC CNC Machining program, along with the IST & Ag Mechanics programs recently had a demonstration of the Quantum Max FaroArm, the world’s leading portable coordinate measuring machine (CMM). Leaders in aerospace, machining, assembly and the auto industry rely on the FaroArm portable CMM to easily capture precise measurements on the shop floor and in the field, even in extreme temperatures.
The OVCTC Culinary Arts program has been extremely busy washing and wrapping 39 cases of baked potatoes for the Lions Club and the upcoming Seaman Fall Festival!
The OVCTC FFA Dairy Judging Team had a successful showing at the All American Dairy Judging Contest in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania! Team members are Ryan Shoemaker, Ty McClanahan, Abbagale Doss & Mitchell Ohnewehr.
The team came in 2nd in the Guernsey judging division and 4th place in the Holstein division. The team came in 3rd overall in the oral reasons competition. Mitchell Ohnewehr was the 10th placed individual overall. Ryan Shoemaker was 3rd overall in oral reasons while placing 1st in oral reasons for the Jersey and Guernsey divisions.

These OVCTC FFA students have been working hard on improving their oral reasons and are ready to compete nationally in the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania All American Dairy judging contest tomorrow. They have been practicing alongside The Ohio State and Ohio 4H teams this week, and we appreciate all the dairies and people who have helped them grow in skill. We are proud of their accomplishments and hard work, and wish them the best as they compete against schools across the country on Sunday.

The Ag Mechanics and Industrial Power Program has hit the shop starting with cleaning and safety training. Repairs are needed on various pieces of equipment and are being made by our students!
Congratulations to 2022 graduates Ashley Evans and Elizabeth MyCoskie for passing the Ohio State Cosmetology Board Exam and receiving their licenses!
The OVCTC Culinary Arts program has had a busy week with the Adams County Retired Teachers luncheon yesterday and opening the Career Cafe today!
Juniors and seniors in our Early Childhood Education program participated in volunteer training at WUES last week. This training provided them important information about volunteering and working in classrooms at the elementary level. Confidentiality, policies and safety issues were discussed during the training.

Please make sure you review ordering recommendations with your program instructor before you proceed. If you are looking to order a hat or a fleece jacket (for those who are cold-blooded), those items can be found in the "Pioneer Store", not your program store (at this point, only Cosmetology has selected a program specific jacket) . Culinary students must work with Mrs. Foster on their uniform orders.
