The Ag Business class had a special gift come early this week in honor of National FFA Week! Meet Kevin! He’s a brand new baby bull calf born to our 6404 cow out of a bull named Gold Standard and we are excited TJ welcome him to our CTC herd! Students last year in the Ag Business program used timed AI to artificially breed our cows for a February 27th due date. “Kevin” was a week early, but is as healthy and as spunky as can be! Students were able to palpate the cows and try their hand at estimating the arrival date earlier on, and today they tagged and banded Kevin. He is enjoying his freedom with his mother and doing great! Welcome to the family Kevin!

Statement concerning Social Media Threat.
On Wednesday evening February 22, 2023, a former student at WUHS shared a meme on social media with other students causing concern. District SRO staff were immediately notified along with the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, who were already working the case. The student was taken into custody and with the help of the ACSO, CPS, and Shawnee Mental Health, all determined that there was no threat to the school or anyone else. Due to reposting by those who received the original post, along with adding additional text, there have been further concerns about the safety of multiple schools in the district. District SRO staff and the ACSO continue to monitor the situation and there is no current threat to students, staff, or buildings.

Adams County FFA Chapter members gathered at Church 180 this morning for worship service and to enjoy some pizza and fun playing games afterward. Thanks to North Adams FFA for hosting us this year! National FFA Week is recognized and celebrated each year during George Washington’s Birthday (President’s Day). Looking forward to an exciting week to come!

OVCTC Juniors in the Early Childhood Education program recently visited Manchester Elementary to observe in classrooms from grades K-6. Principal Tate Skinner welcomed our students and provided them with a quick tour of the school before they visited the cooperating classrooms. We thank Manchester Elementary for allowing us to visit and learn about teaching styles and school environments in early childhood education.

In honor of Valentine's Day this week, a few of our 6th grade members of the Junior educators program worked with their CTC leaders from the Early Childhood Education program to read the story Love Monster and then make fun Monster themed Valentine’s Day cards to give to someone special.
