The Juniors in Mr. Cooper’s CNC Machining program have been making their first cuts on the lathe.
We are very proud of these OVCTC Ag Business seniors who stepped up to get our hay bales before the rain today! They worked very hard and have pride in their school farm! Lindsay Mullins raked and we had Hunter Johnson, John Motts, Aly Simpson, and Timothy Stephenson help bale and load. Special thanks to the GL Nause Co. for helping us out on the super nice Lifetime Wagons. Thanks again to all these seniors who helped on a Saturday. It was a great hay day and the timing was perfect to get it up. Now let it rain!
The OVCTC Ag Business students have been busy keeping the farm going! Students are taking care of pigs, goats, and beef cattle daily in addition to keeping up with the needs of the crops! We are excited about the junior class this year and look for the senior class to also accomplish great things! This week we have been working on the skid loader and equipment operation in both classes. The seniors mowed and will be baling hay tomorrow and the juniors tedded the hay today. Grain harvest is right around the corner!
In Ms. Roberts Yearbook Class, students completed an activity where they learned about the different types of pictures including portraits, mug shots, group photos, and more!
The students in Mr. Harper’s Welding lab were hard at work on a variety of projects today!
The Juniors in the Construction Technology program were working with trowels & levels as they applied mortar and laid brick during today’s instruction!
We are so proud of the Ag Mech Juniors as they explore problem solving at its finest. This is a great group who are willing to learn and get dirty!
The Ohio Valley CTC Culinary Arts program has been very busy serving guests and preping for opening day.
Students have been working on menus, planning for event table setups as well as baking meringues cream pies & prepping baked steak. Students work on presentation
and organization as well as time management in the culinary arts lab, all the while maintaining social distancing and healthy COVID standards.
The students in Ms. Sowards’ English class created fantastic 3-D models of the Globe Theater in preparation for the unit on Shakespearean plays!
Today was an exciting day for Juniors in our Early Childhood Education program. They began their placement in an elementary classroom at West Union elementary. While there they work with teachers and students learning classroom management, teaching strategies and communication skills that will prepare them for a career in early childhood education. Junior Samantha Haddox is shown working with a student in Mrs. McIntosh's second grade classroom while continuing social distancing. A special thanks to Mr. King and the staff at the West Union elementary for opening their classrooms to us.
Thank you to the Adams County community for supporting the annual Jr. Fair Beef BBQ! We are so grateful for the efforts of many volunteers which made this event a success!!! Many thanks to the OVCTC Culinary Arts, Ag Business and Ag Mechanics programs for their tireless efforts in making the Beef BBQ happen. The OVCTC Culinary Arts students have been very busy. They started the year with learning to prep food safely, identifying equipment and it’s uses. They are now preparing coleslaw, and baked beans for the Junior Fair Beef BBQ . Most of the seniors are already on early placement and have jobs.
The culinary field is very people oriented and can lead to a career with several options other than just fast food - careers like management for grocery chains, head chefs in hotels & restaurants, pastry chefs and working with health / nutrition careers. We try to explore several options of the foodservice industry because we are essential workers.
The OVCTC Ag Business & Ag Mechanics students have been busy splitting wood and digging the Beef BBQ Pit for 2020! Thank you to the county highway department for all of their help in making the BBQ a success year after year!

The OVCTC Automotive Technology Seniors received factory training on the new Hunter Engineering tire changer and Road Force Tire balancer. Thank you to Greg Linfert of Hunter Engineering Sales and Service for working with our students!
Mr. Palmer’s Automotive Technology Juniors got some hands on experience stripping a vehicle for recycling. Every bolt and nut is collected for use during the year on other projects and yes, the students were complying with CDC COVID 19 stay safe rules. This is a good group of future ASE auto technicians!
The students in Ms. Johnson’s class dealt with beakers & measurements in their Chemistry lab this week.

Juniors in our Early Childhood Education program began the day listening to a book "I Like Myself" and then created an All About Me craft. These activities can be used in preschool and early childhood classrooms to help the transition of students from home to school. Our ECE juniors are safely beginning their studies in early childhood education and enjoying the in person learning.
